Kona bicycles is headquartered in Vancouver, BC and focuses on mountain bikes and cyclocross bikes. Kona is a bicycle company known for there irreverent sense of humor when selection the names of there bikes. Names of models include: Stinky, Stab, Shred, Sex 1, Jake the Snake, Dawg and Shonky.
If you've ever been to Whistler Blackcomb or a handful of other mountain bike parks around the world, you'd notice Konas in the rental shop. Kona has partnered with may parks to be the exclusive rental provider. Most of the rental bikes are versions of Kona's Stinky series of big travel bikes.
Kona has also been involved with many bike advocacy projects, most notably, the Africa Bike project in 2006. Kona, along with some other corporate sponsors, teamed up to build a quality, inexpensive bike for healthcare workers in Africa. Kona has agreed to continue the project in 2008 by giving away 1,000 Africabikes.
