Marin is a bicycle company base in Marin County, California. Marin has been around since 1986 and continues to produce some of the best mountain bikes on the market. Marin also manufactures a variety of road and hybrid bikes in addition to their mountain bike lines.
Marin was one of the last major bicycle manufacturers to offer high quality steel framed hard tail mountain bikes. The 2008 lineup of Marin hardtails includes no steel frames but does include some new Hydroformed aluminum framed bikes. Hydroformed tubes are easy to spot because of the radical shapes they're capable of taking. Marin claims that the process allows them to tune the ride quality in a much more precise way than ever before. Hydroformed aluminum hardtails include the Nail Trail, Juniper Trail, Palisades Trail, Eldridge Grade, Hawk Hill, Bear Valley and the Bobcat Trail.
In the All-Mountain category for Marin in 2008 is the Mount Vision Quad XC full suspension bike. All mountain bikes have become very popular in recent years for their ability to strike a balance between an XC bike and poor climbing big travel bike. The Mount Vision Quad XC uses Marin's hydroformed aluminum tubes and the Quad-Link 2.0 rear suspension system. For around 3 grand you get a great all-mountain bike with choice parts like Avid Juicy 7 brakes, Crank Bros Candy pedals and Mavic Cross Ride wheelset.
