Mongoose Mountain Bikes
Mongoose is another one of those brands that get the "cheap" bike label because it does in fact sell a line if cheap mountian bikes. These bikes are sold at big box retailers like Kmart, Walmart, Sears and Target. However, Mongoose makes a complete line of high-quality mountain bikes with top shelf frames and parts that if distributes through local bike shops just like any of the other major brands out there.
In the Mongoose downhill category are burly bikes the like EC-D. The letters stand for Eric Carter Downhill. The EC-D is the same frame the Mongoose team rides and the new 1.5" headtube lets riders customize by running either internal or external bearings. With a full 8.4" of travel in the back-end you'll be able to rip on the same bike World Cup racers are riding.
The Mongoose Teocali Super is a great go-anywhere, do-anything 6" travel trail bike. A great feature on the Teocali Super that makes it versatile as an XC bike is the inclusion of a handlebar mounted lockout control. It allows you to shift into super stiff climbing mode with the flick of a switch. Mongoose is great at packing a whole lot of value into their bikes and this ride is a steal at $2,300.
