Scott Mountain Bikes
Scott is a bicycle company that's been involved with mountain biking since the 80's. The first Scott mountain bike was produced in 1986 and in 1991 Scott unveiled the first suspension fork they called the "Unishock". Today Scott offers a full line of mountain bikes that fit a wide variety of riding styles from fast and light XC race bikes to beefy downhill bikes. Like they've done in the road category, Scott keeps pushing the limits of how light they can make an XC race bike. Scott currently makes one of the lightest world cup XC racing bikes in the world, the Scale LTD.
Like it's name implies, the Scott Scale LTD is light, very light. The frame comes in at a featherweight 18.83 lbs. The frame is HMX net carbon fiber with an integrated seatpost. The integrated seatpost, which is said to reduce weight and increase stiffness is a relatively new innovation that was introduced to road cycling just a few years ago. The DT Swiss XRC 100 fork features carbon lowers, a remote lockout system and 100mm of travel. Scott has taken every opportunity to shave weight and this includes the carbon derailleurs Magura Marta SL CarbonBrakes. For all this you're going to break the bank at $8,449.99, but if you're looking for a bike that can climb like a goat and you've got the cash, the Scott Scale LTD will take your XC racing to a new level.

Featured Scott Mountain Bike Video
Scott has gone an interesting route with their big travel bikes. Scott has removed the distinction between downhill and freeride bikes and now has just one frame the crosses over into both categories. Based on your riding preference you have the choice of the DH 10 or DH 20 and the FR 10 or FR 20. Scott is able to offer this much versatility by giving the rider a wide range of adjustability. The rear travel can be adjusted as well as the head angle. This video shows some test rides of the new Scott Gamblers.
