Dirt Jumping Mountain Bikes
Dirt Jumping has been around for a while but has been traditionally performed on BMX style bikes. A lot of major mountain bike companies are now producing dirt-jumping specific bikes with larger wheels and gears. These bike are built tough to handle the big drops and hard landings that result from big air.
Most dirt jumping bikes are hardtails built with strong steel or aluminum frames and equally tough components. The frames are usually smaller than a standard mountain bike but larger than a dedicated BMX bike. Replaceable drops are a key feature on dirt jumpers that prevent an entire frame replacement of the dropout is bent or broken during a hard crash.
