Freeride Mountain Bikes
Freeride is a mountain bike discipline that includes aspects of downhill riding, dirt jumping and XC handling skills. Many ski areas around the world now cater to freeriders during the summer months by allowing lift rides to the top of the mountain. Some of the ski areas have also created North Shore like obstacles that have become part of the freeride culture.
Freeride bikes are similar to downhill bikes in that they offer big travel and a somewhat reclined geometry. Freeride bikes are almost all full suspension, often constructed of aluminum and usually feature a single-pivot suspension design for strength and durability. Freeride bikes are much lighter than downhill bikes so that riders can climb and handle the bikes on technical sections of trail or obstacles. Key features of newer freeride mountain bikes are a 1.5" head-tube that will accept tougher, long-travel single-crown forks
