Trials Mountain Bikes

Trials is a form of mountain bike riding that has the rider perform a variety of balance intensive tricks like hopping over obstacles. All tricks must be performed without touching the ground. Trials riding is similar to BMX freestyle in that competition emphasizes a sense of style, technique and creativity.

Trials bikes use a variety of wheel sizes from 20" on up to the standard 26" mountain bike wheel. Many trials bike are much smaller than XC type mountain bikes, some riders even choose to forego the saddle. Other characteristics of trials bikes are wide handlebars, low gears and strong brakes.
